BOSTON (AP) - Rhode Island Rep. William Murphy, who recently gave up his position as House Speaker, has been appointed to the House Finance Committee.
House spokesman Larry Berman said the committee appointments were announced Tuesday by current Speaker Gordon Fox. Murphy, a West Warwick Democrat, gave up his leadership position last month but will remain in the General Assembly for the rest of the session.
Berman said Murphy was a good fit for the Finance Committee because of his experience handling the state budgets.
