PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - Former Sen. Lincoln Chafee has loaned his campaign $200,000 as he runs as an independent candidate for Rhode Island governor.
Chafee raised nearly $41,500 from individuals and political action committees during the three-month period ending in December.
He now has about $396,500 in his account for this year's race to succeed Republican Gov. Don Carcieri. By law, the candidates must report by Monday on their political
fundraising and spending.
General Treasurer Frank Caprio and Attorney General Patrick Lynch , both Democrats, have not yet submitted their reports to the state Board of Elections. Republican John Robitaille joined the race in January and doesn't need to file until April 30.
