PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) -- Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich's wife and Ron Paul are campaigning in Rhode Island as voters prepare to head to the polls for the primary next week.

Callista Gingrich is visiting a YMCA in Middletown and a library in East Providence on Tuesday, where she is expected to read her book "Sweet Land of Liberty." She will then attend a dinner in East Greenwich sponsored by the town Republican committee.

She spoke Monday night to students at Salve Regina University in Newport in an event sponsored by the College Republicans.

"Looking forward to spending the next few days in Rhode Island!" she tweeted on Monday.

Ron Paul is holding a town hall meeting on Wednesday night at the University of Rhode Island in South Kingstown.

Rhode Island's presidential primary is April 24.

Nomination frontrunner Mitt Romney was in Rhode Island last week for a business town hall in Warwick.
