BURRILLVILLE, R.I. (WPRI) - Three of the candidates running for governor took part in a forum in Burrillville Wednesday night.
There, they faced voters who brought with them concerns about the state's economic woes.
Democrat Frank Caprio, Republican John Robitaille, and Moderate Ken Block, all said the key was to make Rhode Island more business friendly, and get people back to work.
"We need the state to be the advocate of small businesses," said Caprio. "We need to get out of their way and out of their pocket."
"We have to get jobs back, rescue small businesses, and stop the ridiculous spending," said Robitaille.
"We have to become tax-competitive with our neighbors, and we have to give businesses a reason to be here instead of across the border," said Block.
The forum follows a recent Brown University poll , and an exclusive Eyewitness News poll , which show independent Lincoln Chafee having a slim lead in the race . Chafee, along with Democratic candidate Patrick Lynch, did not take part in Wednesday's forum.
