Lincoln officer charged with assault

LINCOLN, R.I. (WPRI) - According to a release, from Lincoln police Captain Raymond Bousquet, an officer within the department has been charged with assault with a deadly weapon.

Police said the charge stems from an incident back on May 31st, when the officer was working a uniformed police detail. Lincoln police started an internal investigation then after careful review the case was passed off to the Rhode Island State Police for a criminal investigation.

The officer is currently suspended from duty without pay. The Department of the Attorney General is also investigating.
