WASHINGTON (WPRI) - Congressman Patrick Kennedy attacked U.S. policy in Afghanistan and mediacoverage of the war during a heated speech on the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives Wednesday.
Congressman Kennedy raised his voice on the house floor on Wednesday. He was aggressively talking about a resolution to pull U.S. troops out of Afghanistan.
He says American soldiers should not be fighting in the war torn country.
Kennedy, who announced last month he would not be seeking reelection, chastised the media for focusing on the Rep. Eric Massa scandal while lawmakers were discussing the future of the war. Massa, a Democrat from Upstate New York, resigned his post earlier this week amid sexual harassment allegations.
Kennedy said the lack of attention on the war fed public cynicism about government.
