NORTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. (WPRI) - The search for a missing boater in the area near Rocky Point in Warwick and Quonset Point in North Kingstown is now being considered a recovery mission.
The Coast Guard at Castle Hill said Monday afternoon they were searching for a possibly missing boater.
Officials said a Coast Guard helicopter assisted in the search, looking at debris and searching for boaters.
Apparently, someone on the boat called a friend on the mainland in a panic, saying he was "going down."
North Kingstown fire crews and DEM personnel are assisting the Coast Guard in the recovery mission.
The missing boat is described as an 18-foot green and white vessel.
Crews have found a fuel tank, but they don't know if it's from the missing boat. However, officials said it was the right size.
