Susan Roberts

Susan Roberts joined the Eyewitness News team in January, 2011 to co-anchor the 5 p.m., 6 p.m. and 11 p.m. newscasts on WPRI 12.

When not behind the anchor desk, she will also report on stories that are important to the lives of Southern New Englanders.

Roberts comes to New England from Washington, D.C. Although she’s new to WPRI, she is certainly a familiar face. Susan has been a part of the CBS family for six years, as a Washington-based correspondent for CBS Newspath, the network's 24-hour television news service to CBS stations and broadcasters throughout the world. Susan joined the network in 2003 and contributed reports for The CBS Evening News with Katie Couric, The Early Show, CBS Evening News weekend editions, as well as the CBS affiliates and CBS Radio Network. When she wasn't reporting from the North Lawn of the White House or Capitol Hill, Susan was on the road.

She reported on the 2008 presidential campaign from various state primaries, as well as the Democratic National Convention in Denver and Republican nominee Sen. John McCain's election night headquarters in Phoenix.

The summer of 2005 was an especially tough time for Susan. She returned to her old stomping grounds, New Orleans, to cover the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. Susan had been a local news reporter there in the mid-90s. She spent two months on the ground for CBS, reporting on the evacuation and eventually the rebuilding.

Her reports have also included the Michael Jackson trial in California, mining disasters in Utah and West Virginia, and various natural disasters from flooding to mudslides and fires.

Prior to CBS, while working at the ABC affiliate in Washington, D.C., she covered the terrorist attacks on the Pentagon on 9/11, the sniper attacks, and the start of the Iraq War from an aircraft carrier in the Mediterranean Sea. She is an Emmy nominated journalist and a recipient of a Regional Edward R. Murrow award.

She is thrilled to be a part of our family. Outside of work, you may see her biking, running or playing tennis. She's a strong advocate of the humane society, and the proud owner of a King Charles Spaniel named Abbi. If you see her out and about, please say hello! She can't wait to meet you all!
