Erin Kennedy joined the Eyewitness News Team in December of 2005. You can catch her anchoring the 5:30 newscast on WPRI 12 and First on Fox Providence at 10 on WNAC.
Prior to working at Eyewitness News, Erin was Morning Anchor in Lubbock , Texas for KAMC. She also guest co-anchored their weekend Spanish Language show "Si Se Puede." Erin is an award winning journalist who traveled to Mexico to report on those who illegally cross the Rio Grande in search of a better life in America . While living in Texas , Erin's reported on evacuees from Hurricanes Rita and Katrina who escaped to Lubbock . Erin says reporting provides an opportunity to learn something new every day, and she considers it exciting and an honor to report on issues that directly affect the New England community. Some of Erin's favorite stories that she's had the opportunity to cover include the Red Sox clinching the World Series in 2007 and traveling with the New England Patriots to Glendale, AZ for Super Bowl XLll.
Erin is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame. She earned a double degree in English and Spanish and graduated Summa Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa. One of Erin's professional memberships is the Portuguese American Women's Association. She is also on the board of the Manton Avenue Project.
Although Erin was born and raised in Colorado , her parents and family are from Rhode Island . Now that her parents have moved back to New England, Erin is thrilled that both the Kennedy and Rocha families are all together again. Her hobbies include reading non fiction, yoga, Pilates, hiking, snow boarding and spending time outdoors.
