NEW BEDFORD, Mass., (WPRI) - The City of New Bedford will soon have a new community center.
The city received a $475,000 dollar federal grant to build a new facility which will have recreational opportunities for at-risk youth.
Funding is part of the Economic Development Initiative of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development or (HUD).
“I am pleased that the city will receive this crucial funding,” said Congressman Frank . “The new center will provide recreational offerings for youth in a safe environment, and the building project will give a needed boost to the local economy.”
Frank has been an advocate for community projects and secured federal money for the Buzzards Bay Center, along with supporting the Bay Village and the Westlawn Housing Complex.
