FALL RIVER, Mass., (WPRI) - A tractor trailer hit a man working inside a bucket truck Tuesday, knocking the worker out of the bucket and onto the ground.
The 63-year-old city electrician was inside the extended bucket working on traffic lights at an intersection in the south end of Fall River, near Amity Street around 2 p.m. when the accident occurred.
Investigators say the man was in a Fall River Police bucket truck.
"It looked like a telephone bucket truck in the air. It looked like he fell a good 16, 18 feet out of the bucket and traffic was stopped and people that were in traffic were trying to help him. It didn't look too good. There was a lot of blood from the back of his head," said eyewitness Dennis Biello.
Lt. Roger LaFleur says rescue crews rushed to the scene and transferred the victim to a nearby hospital in critical condition.
The victim's identity has not been released.
Authorities are continuing to investigate the incident.
