WEST BRIDGEWATER, Mass. (WPRI) -- Massachusetts State Police are investigating a double-fatal crash in West Bridgewater that left a Rhode Island man dead.

Troopers say that the crash happened at about 4:00 a.m. on Route 24 North in West Bridgewater.

Their preliminary investigation shows that a 2010 Toyota Corolla was driving south in the northbound lanes when it hit three different cars.

The driver of the wrong-way vehicle has only been identified as a 19-year-old woman from Mansfield. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officials say one of the vehicles she struck was a pickup truck head on.

The pickup truck caught fire as a result of the crash, trapping the driver, a 44-year-old Tiverton man. He was killed in the crash. His passenger, a 42-year-old Tiverton woman, was able to escape.

A 36-year-old man from New York and a 66-year-old Swansea man both suffered minor injuries after their vehicle's were struck by the wrong-way driver.

No word on what caused the crash.
