REHOBOTH, Mass. (WPRI) - A Rehoboth firefighter died in the line of duty on Thanksgiving, the Rehoboth Fire Department said Friday.
Firefighter Ken Marshall Jr. was responding to a fire alarm around 9:30 p.m. Thursday, when fire officials said he went into cardiac arrest. The fire engine was just leaving the station when it happened. Other firefighters noticed Marshall was in trouble and stopped the truck. They performed CPR on him. Marshall was then taken to Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro, where he was pronounced dead. He was 33.
Marshall, a 15-year veteran of the fire department, leaves behind a wife and two children. Fire officials said he was a third generation Rehoboth firefighter, following in the footsteps of his father and grandfather.
