WESTPORT, Mass., (WPRI) - Police say the conflicting fireworks laws between states sends a mixed message to the public.
In Westport on the 4th of July, police seized an assortment of different fireworks after receiving nearly a dozen complaints.
Certain types of fireworks are legal in Rhode Island and Connecticut yet illegal in Massachusetts.
Fire and police responded neighborhood complaints about the illegal items, confiscating the fireworks from residents without any trouble.
No one is facing criminal charges at this time.
