NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WPRI) - Several buildings in the area around St. Luke's Hospital in New Bedford were evacuated Wednesday night after a brief bomb scare.

A woman called police after she noticed a suspicious looking suitcase sitting outside her home.

She told investigators she had been in a heated online discussion about the Quran burning controversy in Florida, and feared she may have been the target of a bomb threat.

The bomb squad was called in, but discovered the suitcase was an empty typewriter case.
