ORLEANS, Mass. (WPRI) - Officials are on alert, after more Great White Sharks have been spotted swimming in New England waters.

The latest sighting was off the coast of Orleans , Mass. on Thursday. A lifeguard with binoculars spotted a shark fin about 300 yards off shore.

Officials with the Massachusetts Division of Marine Fisheries has confirmed two more were spotted off Chatham , Mass. Earlier in August, a shark sighting closed Horseneck Beach in Westport to swimming for a day.

So far, officials have not ordered any beaches to close to swimming due to the sighting.

Several great white sharks have been seen in the area of Monomoy Island off Chatham this summer . Scientists say they've been drawn there by an explosion in the seal population.
