BOSTON (AP) -- Massachusetts officials are looking for artists to paint wildlife or landscape scenes on donation containers in parks across the state.

Known as "iron rangers," the cylinders are 42 inches tall and let visitors leave money to fund conservation and education projects in the parks.

State officials will choose the winners by looking at entries from artists that include proposed designs and design descriptions. The iron rangers raise about $19,000 a year for the parks, attracting more donations when painted.

The artists who win won't be paid, but can sign the art and leave business cards or brochures with the property supervisor.

Entries are due to the Department of Conservation and Recreation by Monday.
