Infant killed in Attleboro rollover

Police say the baby's seat was ejected from car

ATTLEBORO, Mass. (WPRI) - An infant has died after being thrown from a car during a rollover in Attleboro.

Emergency responders and Massachusetts State Police Troopers were called to 95 South near exit 2 at 10 p.m. Saturday evening where officials say a driver lost control of her vehicle.

Police say 20-year-old Ashley Derochea struck a guardrail while driving a Honda Accord. The car then rolled over hitting the opposite guardrail.

A five month infant was reportedly ejected from the vehicle while still strapped inside her car seat.

The baby with rushed to Hasbro Children's Hospital with serious injuries where she was pronounced dead.

Another passenger, 21-year-old Michael Cornell, was also injured. He was taken to Rhode Island Hospital along with the driver. Cornell was treated and later released while Derochea remains in good condition.

Massachusetts State Police say the accident remains under investigation and it is unclear if anyone will face charges.
