Identities released in deadly crash

Victims are from Tiverton and Mansfield

WEST BRIDGEWATER, Mass. (WPRI) - Massachusetts State Police have released the identities of the two victims involved in a deadly crash early Sunday morning.

Lisa Banat, 19, of Mansfield and John LaChapelle, 44, of Tiverton were killed in the accident on Route 24.

State Police tell Eyewitness News it appears Banat, who was driving a 2010 Toyota Corolla, was driving south in the northbound side of Route 24 when she collided with a 1999 GMC pickup driven by LaChapelle.

Both victims were pronounced dead at the scene.

LaChapelle's passenger managed to escape with minor injuries.

Two other cars were involved in the crash.

Both of those drivers also suffered minor injuries.
