NORTH ATTLEBORO, Mass., (WPRI) - North Attleboro Fire Chief Peter Lamb is recovering at home, after he was rushed to the hospital from the scene of a South Washington Street house fire on Monday afternoon.

According to Michael Thompson, Chairman of the North Attleboro Board of Selectmen, Chief Lamb was overcome by symptoms related to a flu virus or stomach bug that he had been dealing with.

Thompson said the Chief is being treated at the hospital, and he is hopeful the chief will make a quick recovery.

Firefighters were called to the South Washington Street address, which is a large, historical home, around 3 p.m. Monday.

At one point, it reached three alarms, with crews from several surrounding communities responding to help.

A dispatcher at the North Attleboro Fire Department was not able to provide any other details about the fire.

However, at 5:15 p.m. he did confirm that crews were expected to remain on the scene late into the evening.
