FALL RIVER, Mass. (WPRI) - Cats and dogs in Fall River can breathe a little easier now that the city has received new pet oxygen masks for its emergency crews.
The masks are specifically designed to fit over the snout of a dog or cat, and drastically improve an animal's chance of survival following fires and other emergencies. The new masks were donated by a non-profit called Pet Partners. They donated 13 masks to the city. 10 will go to the city's emergency trucks, while the remaining three will police K-9 units. Officials say they'll have enough masks for each of the city's ambulances.
Pet Partners says any city or organization in need of pet oxygen masks should contact them for help.
