ATTLEBORO, Mass. (WPRI) - After a complaint from a city resident, volunteers came out to clean up multiple historic burial grounds on Sunday.
When Bryan Simmons was unhappy with the condition of the city’s burial grounds grounds, he wanted to do something about the historic land.
The historical commission and mayor gave Simmons permission to hold a clean-up event in honor of Earth Day.
Simmons and volunteers spent the day picking up trash and national refuse from six different burial grounds.
Cemeteries that were on the list to be cleaned included the Solomon Family Burial Ground, Coombs Burial Yard, the Follett Family Burial Ground, Dodge Island Cemetery, the Old Peck Yard, and the Thayer Family Burial Ground.
