LINCOLN, R.I. (WPRI) - A stabbing in the Lincoln Mall parking lot on Washington Highway Monday night may be linked to Craigslist, Lincoln police confirmed.

The incident happened around 6:15 p.m. outside the McDonald's restaurant. Police said a man was robbed then slashed with a knife.

The victim's injuries were not life-threatening, police said.

Investigators said the victim, a 19-year-old man from Woonsocket, told officers he met his attacker through Craigslist. He said the two agreed to meet in the parking lot so the suspect could buy a cell phone from the victim.

The investigation is ongoing.
