SWANSEA, Mass. (WPRI) - Swansea police sent out a parental advisory Wednesday after a 12-year-old boy told them a suspicious man offered him a ride to school Wednesday morning.
It happened around 6:45 a.m. in the area of Swansea Library on Main St. The boy told police when he walked past a white SUV while on his way to school, the man inside offered him a ride. The boy, who said he did not know the man, refused and continued to walk to school.
The operator was described as a clean-shaven white man, approximately 20-years-old, slim build with dark short hair and glasses. Police said the SUV may have been a Ford Explorer.
This is the fourth suspicious incident this month in surrounding communities and involving children and unknown men. The most recent, the attempted abduction of a 11-year-old boy in Somersert. On Sept. 11, there was an attempted abduction in Fall River. In Tiverton, a stranger was spotted videotaping children at a school bus stop.
Police do not know if any of the incidents are connected.
