Providence, R.I. (WPRI) - Saturday kicked off the nation-wide campaign, Shape-up Rhode Island, to get healthy.
A fitness expert hosted the event at Rhode Island College.
MOre than 12,000 Rhode Islanders have signed up to get healthier by participating in the fourth annual weight loss and exercise competition.
Those who join create a team and spend the next 12 weeks encouraging each other to exercise and eat healthier, while competing for prizes.
