PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) - Investigators are still figuring out how and why a second-story porch railing gave way Monday night, causing a man to tumble to the ground below.

Providence Police say the man was at a home on Denison Street, visiting a friend when the railing gave way around 10:30 p.m. The victim was rushed to Rhode Island Hospital, with injuries that aren't expected to be life-threatening.

Eyewitness News checked with the city's Department of Inspection and Standards, and the department's director, Sheila Barrett, said Tuesday morning the property has not had any city code violations. A department inspector checked the property Tuesday morning, but as of 4:45 Tuesday afternoon Eyewitness News is still waiting for details on those results.

Barrett did say the property had had 2 permits in the past couple years for routine work.
