PAWTUCKET, R.I. (WPRI) - Police are interviewing neighbors after a woman was found with major injuries outside a Pawtucket home. She later died on the way to the hospital.

There are many questions still being investigated as of Tuesday night. Eyewitness News has learned the woman was found unconscious outside a home on West Avenue in Pawtucket around 7:00 p.m. Police said she had major injuries to her leg, and was pronounced dead while a rescue crew was en route to Rhode Island Hospital.

Officials aren't identifying the victim, and her cause of death is still being determined.

One woman who said she was the victim's roommate said the police are investigating whether it was a hit and run, but police say their investigation is still in very preliminary stages.
