NORTH PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) - Our Lady of Fatima Hospital in North Providence is the latest Rhode Island hospital to ban children from visiting patients.

In an effort to stop the spread of the H1N1 flu virus, hospital officials announced children under the age of 18 will not be permitted to visit anyone in the hospital.

In addition, the hospital is also banning people with

flu-like symptoms

, such as a fever or dry cough.

Several other hospitals in Rhode Island and across the country have taken similar steps.

Two girls who tested positive for H1N1 died within a week of each other recently.

Health officials also suspect the death of a woman this week could be related to the virus.
