NEW BEDFORD, Mass., - New Bedford authorities have charged a suspect in a 2003 unsolved murder case.
On Wednesday the Bristol County District Attorney Sam Sutter announced that Shawn Hunt has been charged with one count of murder in the death of Alberto "Tito" Gonzalez.
Officials say Gonzalez was shot and killed while walking near the intersection of Spruce and Hillmans streets in New Bedford on November 20, 2003. Police say he was struck by one bullet to the back of his pelvis.
Hunt is currently in federal custody, serving prison time for narcotics violations.
Hunt will be arraigned on the new murder charge at a later date.
