Violet Street Fire, Providence

PROVIDENCE, RI (WPRI) - Six people have been displaced following a fire in a multi-family home in Providence Wednesday night.
The fire broke out in the two-story home on Violet Street around 9 p.m. Deputy Fire Chief Timothy McDaniel said flames on the back of the building had spread from the first floor to the roof.
An eyewitness said he and a friend ran into the building and knocked on people's doors to get them out.
Chief McDaniel said there were no injuries. The Red Cross is assisting the residents.
Officials are still investigating the cause of the fire.
