EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) - The man who calls himself the chief of Tent City says he won't step down.
55-year-old John Freitas oversees a five member council made up of Tent City residents. But this week, it was revealed that he is a registered sex offender.
The self-appointed council is recognized by about 80 homeless people who reside at Tent City.
Just this week, Tent City was relocated from Providence to East Providence.
