ATTLEBORO, Mass. (WPRI) -
Attleboro Police are getting ready to conduct alcohol stings,
to make sure liquor stores are not selling to teens.
Police say they'll be sending underage operatives into Attleboro stores to see if the sellers check their age when they try to purchase booze.
As the Attleboro Sun Chronicle reported, police wanted to get the word out so store owners exercise vigilance to check ID.
Earlier this year, officers were also posted in stores to catch people trying to buy alcohol for minors, known as "Cops in Shops." Four liquor stores participated.
The recent crackdown in the I-95 corridor dates back to the death of 17-year-old Taylor Meyer, who died after an underage drinking party a year ago.
More than a dozen teenagers were arrested in Plainville, Mass., following an underage drinking party that happened just weeks after Meyer's death.
