PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) - Rhode Island lawmakers continue to work on changing the state's medical marijuana program.
The Senate approved a bill Wednesday to allow three "Compassion Centers" to sell the drug to chronically ill patients.
Rhode Island became the eleventh state to make medical marijuana use legal back in 2006, but it remains illegal to buy.
The bill must also be passed in the House of Representatives. Governor Don Carcieri is expected to veto the bill, if it passes.
