A coach for the North Attleboro High School swim team, and for a swim club at the Attleboro YMCA has been released on bail.
Timothy S. Kelly, 38, of 49 Richards Avenue in North Attleboro was arraigned on Tuesday on child pornography charges.
Kelly is accused of downloading images of children engaged in sexual activity from the internet. Federal investigators alerted North Attleboro Police , after arresting a child pornography suspect in Mississippi.
During the investigation, authorities identified Kelly as someone who had been in contact with that suspect. On Monday, police seized Kelly's home computer and related computer hardware for their investigation.
Police say Kelly has been the coach of the North Attleboro High School varsity swim team since it started in 2007. He's also the coach of the Attleboro YMCA's Tsumani Swim Club .
In a statement released Tuesday night, The Attleboro YMCA said it had suspended Kelly. It also said it had performed a background check on Kelly, before he was hired.
The YMCA held a special meeting Tuesday night to address parents' concerns. Many were shocked to here about the charges against Kelly, saying he had a good personality and was good with the kids.
Investigators said there is no evidence that any local kids were illicitly involved with Kelly.
