WEST WARWICK, R.I. (WPRI) – West Warwick’s Town Manager is looking to avoid state intervention by possibly putting the weight of the town’s financial problems on the shoulders of tax payers.
He warned residents Wednesday night that in order to avoid a 1.1 million dollar deficit taxes would have to be raised to the maximum amount allowed under state law.
West Warwick’s property taxes are already among the top ten highest in the state.
Town Council member Angelo Padula tells Eyewitness News he knows they need to act fast, but does not want a hefty tax hike.
The Town Council will meet again on Tuesday.
