Woman gets through TSA with knife

Brought 3-inch knife through security twice

WARWICK, R.I. (WPRI) - A woman from Indianapolis claimed she was able to bring a 3-inch knife through airport security checkpoints not once, but twice.

Sarah Gallienne told Eyewitness News that she was able to carry her knife through two Transportation Security Administration (TSA) security checkpoints at T.F. Green airport in Warwick.

"I was going through it, pulled out my headphones and I realize, 'oh crud' I have a knife in here," she recounted.

Gallienne said she's now filing a complaint with the TSA after going through undetected with a weapon.

Her journey began in Richmond, Virginia and then brought her to Warwick days later where she was able to board another flight bound for home in Indianapolis without being stopped for possessing her knife.

"I couldn't believe that I had just made it through with this knife. Not one, but two TSA checkpoints," Gallienne continued.

TSA issued a statement that said "We continue to take the discovery of knives and other prohibited items seriously. However, in today's post-9/11 security environment, intelligence tells us our officers' greatest focus needs to be the biggest threat to aviation today - explosives and explosives components."

However, Gallienne's complaint filed with TSA remains pending.

The incident comes a week after a security breach on board a Boston plane bound for Newark when a stun gun was found.
