WEST WARWICK, R.I. (WPRI) -- A West Warwick man was taken into police custody early Monday morning for suspicion of driving under the influence, and it's the third time he's been arrested in less than a week.

Police found a white Saab stopped in the middle of Pond Street at about 1:25 a.m. with the driver slumped over the steering wheel.

The motorist was identified as Robert F. Levesque, 54, of 12 Hopedale Drive. Police were led to believe he was highly intoxicated at the time, and Levesque was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of liquor and or drugs, refusal to submit to a chemical test, and driving on a suspended license.

Police learned of Levesque's two other recent arrests when he was brought to the Wickford Barracks for processing. He was held overnight, and ordered held without bail as a bail violator during his arraignment Monday morning.

Levesque is scheduled to appear in court on January 14 for a violation hearing.
