WARWICK, RI (WPRI) - After nearly 90 years in business, a Rhode Island company that has dressed up many locals, is closing its doors.
Waldof Tuxedo has been there for weddings, proms, and fancy parties. Now, the stores fourth generation owner Jeff Quirk is hoping customers will return to buy what they've rented for years.
"There's a lot of emotion involved trying to separate a business decision from a family decision", says Quirk.
But a change of styles and a bad economy left the owner no choice.
"It's harder to catch up to where we were the previous year and hard to survive as a small business in Rhode Island. I'm going to miss most this is a business I've done all life, and part of my family my whole life. And the day it's not here is going to feel weird."
Quirk now plans on having a going out of business sale.
"We're going be selling full tux complete with everything top of line, 150 buy those for similar to that price."
For those customers who had deposits on tuxedo's, Quirk says he has taken care of all of them and referred them to other shops to take care of them.
The store's going out of business sale will really take off
right after the new year.
