WARWICK, R.I. (WPRI) - After successfully securing runway expansion at T.F. Green Airport, the president and chief executive of the Rhode Island Airport Corporation is stepping down.
According to a report by The Providence Journal, Kevin Dillon is leaving to take a position closer to his family, but did not immediately say where that is.
Warwick Mayor Scott Avedisian commended Dillon on his leadership despite differences the two have had in the past.
"I have had an opportunity to reflect on the fact that city and RIAC started out miles apart, but were able to work out differences regarding the expansion of T.F. Green State Airport," Avedesian said.
Dillon will stay on with the agency through July 13, but will continue to assist in the transition with his replacement.
The quasi public Airport Corporation overseas TF Green State Airport, as well as several smaller airports around the state.
Dillon's replacement is yet to be announced.
