WARWICK, R.I. (WPRI) - Rhode Island leaders announced a new outreach initiative Friday aimed at increasing RIPTA ridership by including public transportation information on state and municipal websites.
Warwick Mayor Scott Avedisian, who is also the Chairman of the Board of Directors for RIPTA, is spearheading the effort by adding RIPTA route information on the City of Warwick website beginning Friday.
Mayor Avedisian says he has also written a letter to the chief elected officials of every Rhode Island city and town asking them to also post RIPTA bus directions on their respective communities' websites.
Governor Lincoln Chafee is requesting all state agencies and departments do the same.
