WARWICK, R.I. (WPRI) -- Police have apprehended a man accused of a pair of Warwick robberies.
Barry Jones, 43, of 1403 Warwick Ave. Apt. #303, was arrested Thursday shortly after a nearby Rite Aid pharmacy was held up.
Officers were called to the scene, located at 1201 Warwick Ave., just after 9 a.m. for a robbery in progress. The suspect handed the pharmacist a note indicating that he had a gun, though no gun was shown, and then fled the scene on a bike.
Witnesses told police he was seen entering the Chateaux Apartment Complex. Officers surrounded the building and found Jones by conducting a floor-by-floor search.
Police obtained a warrant to search his apartment, where they found stolen pharmaceuticals from Rite Aid and other items that were determined to be stolen. A follow-up investigation revealed that Jones was also responsible for a robbery at the Warwick Avenue Walgreen's in late August.
Jones was charged with two counts of second-degree robbery for Thursday's robbery.
