WARWICK, R.I. (WPRI) -- Police are investigating after two people were found dead following a hang-up 911 call.

Officers responded to 161 Armstrong Ave. in Warwick after they received a 911 call saying, "there are two dead people," then the caller hung up.

When police arrived on scene they found the bodies of William and Colleen Liebrich. Officials believe William Liebrich called 911, then shot his wife before turning the gun on himself.

Neighbors of the couple are now left wondering why.

"To go to those extremes, you have to be in very severe pain of some kind," said Jorie Shepherd. "We can't judge, we can't fault, we don't know."

William was a 16-year veteran of the Warwick Fire Department and retired as a fire inspector back in 2004.

Police say they found a suicide note in the room, but are still investigating the possible motive. The couple leaves behind two children in their early twenties.
