WARWICK, R.I. (WPRI) - Emotional testimony Friday in the wrongful death trial pitting actor James Woods against Warwick's Kent Hospital.

The fiancee of Woods' late brother, Michael, took the stand, and told the court that Michael Woods received substandard care the day he died of heart failure at Kent Hospital back in 2006.

Lisa Konopka battled back tears as she testified about her fiancee's final moments, as he passed away in a hospital hallway.

"He had asked me to see where the nurse or doctor was to find out how long it was going to be, and I turned my head to the nurses' station and I turned back literally maybe two seconds to tell him that no one was there, and I noticed something was wrong because his eyes were fixed at me and he wasn't moving."

Konopka told the court Friday that her fiance received minimal medical care while he was at the ER, and no medical care in the 20-30 minutes before his death.

James Woods filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Kent Hospital on behalf of Michael Woods' son.

Prosecutors claim the hospital was negligent in its treatment of Michael Woods. But doctors and nurses claim his symptoms were vague, and that they did all they could to save his life.
