Serial robber targets Warwick bank Saturday

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) -- The FBI announced last week that they're offering a $2,500 reward for information leading to the capture of the man known as the "Bearded Bandit", and just days later, it looks as though he's struck again.

The serial robber's latest target was the TD Bank branch located at 2625 West Shore Road in Warwick. Police say he did not display a weapon when he robbed the bank just before 4 p.m. Saturday , then fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash.

This was the eighth bank he's stolen from in Rhode Island and Massachusetts since February.

The FBI is now looking for the public's help in bringing down this criminal.

Officers say he's a white male in his thirties, standing between 5'7" and 5'10". He sports a dark beard and dark hair, but police say not to be fooled by either since he may be wearing a wig and a dyed or fake beard.

In other robberies, the FBI says the bandit threatens the teller with a weapon, but has never actually shown one. He also is known to talk on his cell phone while committing the crime, and hangs up once he takes off with the money.

The FBI says that anyone who recognizes the suspect should contact the FBI or local police.
