WARWICK, R.I. (WPRI) -T.F. Green Airport could soon be offering flights to Block Island.

The Rhode Island Airport Corporation that runs the airport has applied for a $900,000 federal grant to start seasonal service between Green and Block Island.

Right now, passengers headed to Block Island must claim their luggage, and travel to either Westerly State Airport or to one of several area ports with ferry service to the island.

If the grant is approved, travelers would instead be able to catch a connecting flight to the island.

Cape Air would operate the service.
