PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) -- A statewide grand jury has ruled police officers' actions were legally justified in an April 2012 chase that ended in a deadly crash.

Warwick police said they were pursuing an SUV driven by 34-year-old Brandon Borge when he lost control and crashed in Cranston. Borge's girlfriend, 34-year-old Barbara Ellis, was killed , and he suffered serious injuries.

Police said they attempted to pull Borge over because he was driving erratically and speeding. Officers said the pursuit topped out at over 100 miles-per-hour .
