PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) - Notorious serial killer Craig Price will not be allowed to return to Rhode Island to appeal his criminal contempt sentence in person.
On Friday, the Rhode Island Supreme Court denied Price's motion to appear as his own lawyer at a March 2nd hearing, citing the cost of transporting Price from Florida, as well as safety concerns.
Instead, Price will be allowed to submit his appeal through written arguments or to appoint a lawyer to argue on his behalf.
Price was 15 years-old when he confessed to killing four neighbors in Warwick back in 1989.
He was eligible to be freed from prison on his 21st birthday, but is now serving a 25-year sentence for criminal contempt, for refusing to undergo court-ordered psychological testing.
In a hand-written appeal, Price called the contempt sentence "unduly harsh and unconstitutional."
