EAST GREENWICH, R.I. (WPRI) - East Greenwich Police and federal drug authorities converged on a quiet East Greenwich neighborhood Friday morning, where they made a sizeable drug bust.
Investigators were serving a search warrant at 236 Adirondack Drive.
According to East Greenwich Police Chief, Col. Thomas E. Coyle, III, officers from his department and agents from the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration confiscated six pounds of marijuana and $31,000 in U.S. currency from the home. Police also said they found needles with traces of heroin inside.
During the investigation, police took a father and two of his sons out of the house in handcuffs.
Robert E. Campellone, 57, was charged with creating a narcotics nuisance.
His sons, Robert B. Campellone, 23, and Kyle C. Campellone, 22, were both charged with possession with intent to deliver.
Police said more charges are pending.
During a criminal check, Eyewitness News discovered Rhode Island State Police arrested the elder Campellone last August on drug charges. Troopers said they found Campellone in possession of cocaine during a traffic stop on I-95 in Warwick.
When asked if that arrest was connected in any way to Friday's arrests, Coyle said his department's investigation into the family began prior to Campellone's incarceration.
