WARWICK, R.I. (WPRI) - After nearly a year and a half, Rhode Island is still recovering from last year's historic floods. The Warwick Sewer Authority's building was one of many left under several feet of water.

Thursday, officials unveiled a new plaque showing the flood's high water mark. Water from the nearby Pawtuxet River rose nearly 21 feet up the side of the building in March 2010, filling the campus with about 75 million gallons of water.

"It was pretty scary. We needed boats to get around here for a couple of days, trying to restore power," Jamie Burke of the Sewer Authority told Eyewitness News.

The marker was donated by the National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration.
