CRANSTON, R.I. (WPRI) -- Fire ripped through a home in Cranston early Saturday.
Crews were called to the home on Pendleton Street just before 4:00 a.m. Six people escaped the home, and fire officials say they are lucky to have survived.
Fire officials say there were no smoke detectors on the first floor of the three-story building, and the point of origin of the fire appears to be a first-floor kitchen. There were working smoke detectors on the second floor, however.
A pet rabbit was also rescued from the home. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
